Im Engaged and I Dont Know Anything about Wedding Planning!
Ah, the wonderful feeling of being engaged! It is indeed great. Its wonderful to stare at that symbol of love on your ring finger at every available opportunity and take especially good care of your left hand! But now, two weeks have passed. Its time for some wedding planning! I bet the top most question that people are asking you now is, how goes your wedding planning? So, how is your wedding planning going on? What, no answers? That cant be good!
Dont look so confused. Use these tips and get started on your wedding planning:
1. Find a venue and fix a date – Rule number one of wedding planning is that you find a venue first and then fix a date. Otherwise you will be having your wedding ceremony in your parents backyard. Not quite a pretty picture, is it? So, dont make the mistake of picking a date and then fixing the venue. You might not get a venue for that date. So secure a contract with your venue, fix a date, and announce your wedding date to your family and friends.
2. Discuss the money issue with your parents – Your parents are so happy that their pretty little girl is getting married! But now its time to sit them down and discuss the money issue. Wedding planning needs money. And you need to ask your parents for it. It may make you feel like a little girl running to her parents for help, but believe me there are not many people who can do a wedding without the help of their parents. So sit down with them and discuss the wedding budget. Dont go out buying expensive stuff just because you assumed that your parents can afford it!
3. Get the groom involved – Wedding planning without the groom? Not a great idea. You dont want to leave the poor fellow out. Its his wedding too! I know you want everything your way, but your fianc might actually have some awesome ideas which you never ever would have thought about! So, ask your fianc to write down what he wants his wedding to be like. You also do the same on a separate piece of paper. Then just switch the two pieces of paper and be amazed. Not only will you be surprised how similar your ideas are, but some great ideas might just be revealed. So go on, let the wedding planning begin!
